Welcome to Seedicider, the tool that makes choosing things simple and fun! Seedicider, pronounced 'See-decider', is a Windows based program for the blind that combines keyboard hotkeys, music, sound effects and text to speech to make the arduous task of making decisions both simple and fun.
In order to run Seedicider, your computer must be running Windows 7 or higher. Seedicider is a 32-bit program, so it will run under both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows. Also, since the program uses sounds and TTS, you must have a working sound card.
There are a few things to note before you download and use Seedicider.
I profusely apologise for these inconveniences. My programming skills simply aren't strong enough to create a friendly interface to change such settings within Seedicider.
The highest version of Seedicider is 1.0, compiled on Saturday, May 11th, 2024. Download Seedicider
Seedicider is completely portable, meaning everything you need to use it is stored inside a single folder, and therefore does not require installation. Simply extract the seedicider.zip file to a location of your choice using either the Windows built-in archiver or a third pparty archiver like 7-Zip.
Note: You can add, modify and remove items regardless of whether Seedicider is running or not.
To launch Seedicider, simply press Enter on the decider.exe file. You'll know the program has started successfully when you hear the startup tune. Seedicider runs in the background and is driven entirely by keyboard hotkeys, which can be used from within any Windows application, so long as that application doesn't conflict with them. These hotkeys can be customised at any time by modifying the keys.ini file, generated when you launch the program for the first time. Here are the default hotkeys.
An item from your choose.txt file will be picked at random. After a short bit of music, the item will be announced via text to speech. Once the item is picked, it will be automatically removed from the file.
The number of items in your list, as well as the items themselves, will be announced.
The shutdown tune plays, and the program exits.
Note: you must shut down Seedicider before modifying your hotkeys. Customising Seedicider's hotkeys is as simple as opening the keys.ini file in your favourite text editor and modifying the lines accordingly. No special codes or symbols to find and remember. Windows is Windows, Alt is Alt, Control is Control, and so on. Once you're done, save the file and relaunch Seedicider.
